The annual Summer Season at Burnaby Village Museum is back! Spread across 10-acres in Deer Lake Park, Burnaby Village Museum has everything for everyone. If you’re looking for a family-friendly activity this Summer, you don’t want to miss this one. The cherry on top? It’s free admission!

WHERE & WHEN IS IT?

This amazing activation will take place at Burnaby Village Museum (6501 Deer Lake Ave, Burnaby, BC V5G 3T6). It’s easily reached by car – please note that there is limited free parking available. Buses also stop right outside­­ — you can plan your visit via the TransLink website. Summer Season at Burnaby Village Museum will run from May 4 until September 2 from 11 am – 4:30 pm, with last admission at 4:00pm.

Please note that Burnaby Village Museum is closed on Mondays and statutory holidays. There has also been a change in the main entrance due to construction, please refer to this map for the carousel entrance.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Summer Season at Burnaby Village Museum provides free family-friendly entertainment for everyone in Burnaby. Opening its gates right in the start of Summer, the museum promises a journey through history like no other, with a range of captivating exhibits, live demonstrations, and immersive experiences awaiting exploration. One of the highlights of this summer’s offerings is the feature exhibit, “Truths Not Often Told: Being South Asian in Burnaby.” Curated with meticulous detail, this exhibit sheds light on the experiences, struggles, and triumphs of the South Asian community in Burnaby. In addition to the feature exhibit, visitors can also immerse themselves in the traveling exhibit, “OVERCASTE,” curated by the Public Justice Society. This thought-provoking exhibit delves into the complexities of social justice, inviting reflection and dialogue on issues of equality, representation, and identity. Burnaby Village Museum comes alive with a plethora of live demonstrations and interactive experiences that offer a glimpse into the past. At the Burnaby Lake General Store, witness the time-honored tradition of hand-grinding coffee beans and indulge your senses in the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Step into the Way Sang Yuen Wat Kee herbalist shop and try your hand at Mahjong, a Chinese game of strategy and skill, beloved by generations. No visit to Burnaby Village Museum is complete without a ride on the beautifully restored 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel for $2.52. Let the nostalgic melodies of the carousel music serenade you as you whirl around on intricately carved wooden horses. Afterward, savour a leisurely picnic lunch in the picturesque meadow, or treat yourself to a delicious meal or snack at Mai’s Cafe.
