Executive Director Update

Wow – 3 years in the making and the Burnaby Halloween Festival is finally here. With nearly a dozen events across the city, from Pumpkins After Dark, to Eerie Illusions, to the Empty Chest Haunted Adventure it’s been an amazing first year. The team at Tourism Burnaby have had some fun hosting our first annual Zombie Walk, a sold-out event with proceeds going to support The Society to End Homelessness in Burnaby. This week, our judges, including Mayor Mike Hurley, Burnaby Board of Trade CEO, Paul Holden, and Burnaby Hospital Foundation CEO, Kristy James will be visiting haunted homes across the city to determine who has the best decorated house in Burnaby. The Neighbourhood Decorating contest was made possible by our generous sponsor, Fortis BC. Finally a BIG thank you to all who were able to join our launch party back on October 12th. Photos of the event can be found HERE. We look forward to growing this festival and attracting international guests as we expand.
The balance of the year holds many more marketing efforts for our Sport and Meetings & Events markets as you’ll see in the newsletter. The “restart” continues in earnest with the dedicated Tourism Burnaby team.
