December 2022

Executive Director Update

Cheers– With just a few days left on the calendar for 2022, it’s astonishing to see what’s been accomplished in a year that started with 3 months of Public Health Orders. Your team at Tourism Burnaby was able to; deliver a record number of overnight stays for sport groups, participate in 9 different tradeshows and sales missions for Meetings & Events, and produce 2 amazing festivals with Bite of Burnaby in March, and the Burnaby Halloween Festival this past October.

2023 is going to be an even bigger and better year with new events on Burnaby Lake and Christine Sinclair Centre, 15 sales missions and tradeshows planned, and a solid plan in place to nearly double the number of events during the Burnaby Halloween Festival. 2023 will also see our hard-working board develop a new 5 Year Plan for Tourism Burnaby, ensuring the health of our visitor economy now and in the future.

A very Happy Holiday Season to you all. I hope that you’ll find a few moments this season to celebrate some of the hard-won victories in our industry this year and to build some joyful memories with family and friends.
