Recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples
Honour and recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day by joining us for a free community celebration at Civic Square (6100 Willingdon Ave).

The celebration will begin at 3 pm and will run until 7 pm, featuring an Indigenous artisans market, activities for the whole family, and a variety of performances that include dance, live music, spoken word, and storytelling.

The event is family friendly and free to attend. With a SkyTrain station nearby, residents are encouraged to leave their car at home and take transit or choose an active transportation option such as walking or cycling.

Join the team for free activities offered throughout the month of June.

Storytime in the Indigenous Learning House – Tuesdays at 2 pm
Indigenous games in the Meadow – Thursdays at 2 pm
Coast Salish Seed Balls in Brookfield Hall – Saturdays at 2:15 pm

Botanical printmaking workshop with Bonnie Devine and Raven Davis
June 8 & 9, 10 am-3 pm, BAG Barn Studio ($95.6 + tax)
Serpent River Ojibwa artist Bonnie Devine and Anishinaabe two-spirit artist and educator Raven Davis will guide you through natural print-making processes in this two-day workshop. A local Indigenous Knowledge Holder who specializes in Indigenous foraging will guide us in best practices for foraging.

Teambuilding programs

Coast Waters Teambuilding (90-minute session, Maximum of 20 participants)
Get your team together for learning inspired by works from the City of Burnaby Permanent Art Collection. Featuring video commentary by traditional ecological knowledge holder John Preissl, participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of our community and a watercolour collage.
Coastal Salish Contemporary Teambuilding (90-minute session, $120 + tax per group. Maximum of 20 participants)
Book this teambuilding opportunity for your staff team or classroom, and together explore themes and techniques found in contemporary Coast Salish artwork, with discussions surrounding cultural appropriation. This outreach program features a video in conversation with Coast Salish artist lessLIE.
