Please join us for an afternoon of food, entertainment and community 🌈☺️
Our community picnic will be held at Lobley Park, July 9th 2-6pm. All community members are welcome!
We’re delighted to note that joining us are the Burnaby Firefighters who for the afternoon will be swapping their helmets for chef’s toques and cooking up a storm for us. There’ll be a selection of hot dogs (meat/veggie/Halal), pop and chips on offer.
Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society has kindly covered the cost of all food provided, so no cash is needed just bring along yourself!
We’ll have music on the day too from Kaya a Burnaby-based vocalist and songwriter. Kaya draws influences from artists such as Lake Street Dive, Nina Simone, Rebecca Sugar, and David Byrne. Soul, jazz, and indie/alt pop make up the majority of Kaya’s repertoire.
There will also be a range of kid-friendly lawn activities taking place throughout the afternoon.
You can sign up with the link on eventbrite (click here) or just walk in!
See you there!
What to bring:
- Lawn chairs
- Picnic Blankets
- Dress for the weather – jackets, hats, suncreen and sunglasses
Burnaby Pride supports the creation of a fragrance-free environment so that chemical barriers will not prevent access to individuals experiencing chemical sensitivities. For the health and safety of volunteers, performers, and guests it is important that everyone come fragrance-free to this event. For information on how and why to be fragrance-free, see http://thinkagaintraining.com/fragrance-free/#forparticipants.
If you have questions, or if you are not sure you can be fragrance-free, please contact Athena at [email protected].
Burnaby Pride acknowledges a growing number of individuals affected by electrical hypersensitivity (EHS) and would like to help support a safer event for everyone. We ask that picnic attendees power off their cell phones fully or place them on airplane mode for the duration of the event.
If you have questions please contact Athena at [email protected].

Burnaby Pride holds our meetings and events on the unceded and traditional territories of the sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Hul’q’umi’num’ / Halq’eméylem / hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking people. We recognize that this acknowledgement is a tiny piece in the larger context of the ongoing work that must be done to challenge the legacies of colonialism and create palpable disruptive change and true reconciliation.
