Hats Off Day – June 3
Hats Off Day, Burnaby Heights, Sat, June 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 12 blocks of Hastings Street from Boundary to Gamma will be closed to car traffic for this annual parade and festival, held since the early 80s. It’s a day when merchants tip their hats in appreciation to their community. The street parade at the beginning of the festival will feature dozens of floats and displays from a variety of organizations. Fun for all ages, and free event.

The Amazing Brentwood
With its modern design and an indoor/outdoor public space, The Amazing Brentwood is a one-of-a-kind urban gathering place featuring world-class shops, restaurants, public plazas, and entertainment. Visit the lower mainland’s only locations of Sporting Life, Cineplex VIP, H&M Home, The Rec Room, and LL Bean among the many other retailers on site.

Burnaby Art Gallery
With a variety of traveling exhibitions and events, the Burnaby Art Gallery offers something for all ages. The Gallery’s lively public programs are designed to enrich the visitor’s experience as it relates to each exhibition. Current Exhibitions (May 3 – June 4): Arts Alive: Out of This World and Artist Apprenticeship: Magnitude of Enclosures.

Burnaby Village Museum
Take a trip back in time to the 1920’s at one of Burnaby’s favourite themed attractions and museums. Walk through the village and meet the costumed townsfolk, visit the old homes, businesses like the Blacksmith, and shops like the General Store. And don’t forget to take a ride on the Carousel and make a pitstop at the Ice Cream Parlour!

Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area
Explore Burnaby Mountain, whether it be a vigorous hike, leisurely stroll or a heart-pumping bike ride, here are 26 multi-use trails to choose from. The park includes a picnic area, playground, and several large wooden sculptures, known as Kamui Mintara (or Playground of the Gods), to wander between. Tip: Check the weather and dress accordingly.

Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre
The Nikkei Centre serves Japanese Canadians across the country as an important resource for other communities to learn about the Japanese Canadian experience through public programming, events, and exhibits. Fronted by a beautiful Japanese and Canadian garden maintained by the Vancouver Japanese Gardener’s Association. Closed Sunday, Monday & Stat. Holidays.

Glenburn Soda Fountain
Talk about a throwback. Glenburn Sofa Fountain transports you back to a simpler time, with their nostalgic hand-made desserts and confections, including sundaes, splits, milkshakes, and malts. You can find this vintage-inspired shop in the whimsical boutique-style shopping district of Burnaby Heights.
