Spring is a time of rejuvenation and renewal, when nature comes alive in vibrant colors and fragrant scents. One event that perfectly captures the spirit of this season is Burnaby Blooms, a dazzling floral festival that will once again grace the city of Burnaby in May 2024. The best part is that all entertainment and activities are free this year!

WHERE & WHEN IS IT?

This amazing festival will take place at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Deer Lake Park (6450 Deer Lake Ave, Burnaby, BC V5G 2J3). It’s easily reached by car – please note that there is limited free parking available. Buses also stop right outside­­ — you can plan your visit via the TransLink website. Burnaby Blooms will run from 11 am to 4 pm on May 5.

This year’s Burnaby Blooms also features two micro-events at Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area and BC Parkway (Metrotown & Patterson Skytrain Stations) on May 18 and May 25, respectively. Here, you can participate in activities and demonstrations while enjoying free entertainment.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Burnaby Blooms is a captivating floral wonderland that showcases an incredible array of blooms, transforming the city into a tapestry of colors and scents. The festival features meticulously curated gardens, stunning floral displays, and enchanting installations that will leave visitors awe-inspired. May 5 – Shadbolt Centre for The Arts & Deer Lake Park

Facepainting, Photobooth, Plant an Eco-Sculpture, Floral Masks, Paint a Garden Snake, Puppet Making & Parade, Still Life Painting, Chinese Painting Demonstration.

Some of the entertainment on May 5 based on schedules:

Labyrinth & Live Music, Paul Silveria, Karima Essa, Ukulele with Anita Tse, Erhu (Chinese fiddle) with Jirong Huang, Rain City Improv, and Jazz Monarchs.

  • The Indigenous Natural History of Deer Lake with John Preissl & Laurie Beeman (11:30am – 1:00pm & 2:20pm – 4:00pm)
  • For A Healthy & Vibrant Garden Avoid These Common Mistakes with Amanda Jarrett (12:30pm – 1:30pm)
  • The Art of Ikebana: Japanese Flower Arrangement (1:00pm – 2:00pm)
  • Spring Birds & Blossoms with Utta and Aruna from Cariboo Heights Forest Preservation Society (1:00pm – 2:00pm)
  • The Wonderful History of Herbal Gardens (3:15pm – 4:00pm)

In addition to the event on May 5, there will also be 2 micro-events in different parks around Burnaby, where you can participate in fun activities and demonstrations for all ages. Events will take place at:
