Other known as The Star Festival, Tanabata is a Japanese festival, which celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively). According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar. Write your wishes on a tanzaku paper to share with the Tanabata constellations.

Enjoy the weekend festival with food & beverage vendors, garden activities for kids, a Japanese book sale, yukata dressing (summer kimono), movies in our very own cinema, and much more! Join us at the Nikkei National Museum & Culture Centre for a weekend of celebration and fun!
