More than any other month, December is all about eating, drinking and being as merry as humanly possible. Here’s what’s happening around metro Vancouver this month to do all three at once.

Get your wish list ready and head down to the City of Lougheed in Burnaby for a little one-on-one time with the Big Man, and bring along your appetite for the breakfast buffet from IHOP. There’s also storytime and crafting for the kids and all proceeds benefit Burnaby Meals on Wheels.

Festive Canapes Cooking Class, December 7

Put back all those frozen boxes from Superstore and get set to really impress your holiday party guests. Learn to whip up  with fabulous homemade finger foods like Pork and Apricot Sausage Rolls, Pita Crisps and Beet Hummus, a Brie and Cranberry Tartlet, and more at Lonsdale Quay Market.

‘Tis the Saison at Locality Brewing, December 9 to 11

A couple of special festive flights are up for tasting at Locality Brewing in Langley. Along with finger foods and good times, Locality is serving up a selection of saisons including their own ginger saison and a couple more local collabs. There will also be the ‘Twas the Night flight with dark rich beers to warm your round little bellies.

New West Farmers Holiday Market, December 10 & 11 

The third annual version of the beloved New West Farmers Market sets up shop out in front of City Hall with over 90 local artisans and food vendors. A great chance to pick up a one-of-a-kind gift or stock up on supplies for all your holiday entertaining.

IKEA Vinter Fest, December 14 & 15

Everyone’s favourite Swedish furniture makers bring a little taste of their home country to ours with JULBORD, a traditional Swedish holiday smörgåsbord where you will find ham, meatballs, marinated salmon, potatoes, eggs, crispbread, cheese, and much more. Tickets for both locations are available in-store only.

Vegan Holiday Market, December 15

The folks behind the popular Vegan Night Market will transform the Waldorf Hotel in East Vancouver into a plant-based wonderland full of food trucks, festive cocktails, over 30 local vendors and a bonfire outside to keep you warm.

Dine in true holiday style inside these wood-framed “elevated domes” with panoramic glass ceilings so you can take in all of the sights at Westin Bayshore’s prime waterfront location.
