For the Mom with an Appetite: Moral Gluttony

20771 Langley Bypass, Langley City

The City of Langley’s newest brunch spot offers a funky atmosphere and simple, flavourful fare. We recommend veering towards the lunch side of the menu – you’ll find hearty sandwiches with in-your-face names like “The Hammer” and “The Lead Foot”, and intriguingly straightforward descriptions (“a mess of scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, ham, potatoes, avocado, salsa, sour cream and an artisan cheese blend stuffed into a tortilla”).

For the Mom who Likes a Bit of Everything: Eggspectation

10551 St. Edwards Drive, Richmond

Okay, this sprawling Richmond restaurant doesn’t just serve eggs – in fact, despite the name, Eggspectation dishes up one of the best varieties of brunch items in the city. You and your mom(s) can kick off the day with a hand-squeezed juice or creamy smoothie, then dive into towering plates of rich breakfast poutine topped with smoked bacon, ham, sausage and cheese curds; an impressive pancake stack layered with potatoes and turkey-smoked bacon; and an endless array of Bennies served with Hollandaise sauce so flavourful you’ll want to inhale it by the bucket-ful. (Note: Mom might need a nap afterwards…)

For the Mom who Enjoys Al Fresco Feasts: Hart House Restaurant

6664 Deer Lake Ave., Burnaby

We haven’t yet found a Mom who doesn’t adore Hart House. The regal Tudor-style restaurant sits on a sprawling estate leading towards Deer Lake – and the backyard sun-washed patio is one of the prettiest around. Treat the mom(s) in your life to an alfresco brunch of Challah French toast drenched in pecan syrup and pear compote, or a sunny omelet sprinkled with fresh herbs and Parmigiano Reggiano, and don’t forget the bubbles (on weekends, all sparkline wine and champagne is discounted 20 percent until 5pm). Cheers to moms everywhere!
