A short update on all things Meet in Burnaby:

• The meeting and events team attended the Venue Safari at the Pinnacle Hotel, Vancouver, where the team hosted speed meetings with eight groups in 45 minutes; following this, approximately 75 planners passed the Meet in Burnaby booth.
• Tourism Burnaby hosted the Fraser Valley Event Professionals Association’s monthly mingler at the Rec Room; local hotel sales teams were invited to join us to network with the 25 plus meetings and event planners in attendance.
• Connected with SFU to discuss possible partnerships including E-Sport opportunities.
• Attended the MPI June Gala with 50 plus meeting and event planners in attendance.
• Tourism Burnaby was to attend the International Congress and Convention Association Conference in Ottawa from June 6-9, but this was unfortunately cancelled due to a Covid outbreak. It will be rescheduled for the fall.

Upcoming Conferences:

• CAEM annual conference June 25 – 29 in Ottawa – meeting with large scale event producers and meeting and conference planners.
• Exhibiting at the Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners AGM in August.
• Luxury Suite Meetings in Seattle in August. There will be an opportunity to meet with several meeting and event planners that look for opportunities in the Lower Mainland.
• Canadian Meetings and Events Expo in Toronto in August and will be hosting an event for invited event planners that would likely do business in Burnaby.
