With the end of the year in sight, the team at Tourism Burnaby and our dedicated board, have a lot to be proud of for 2023, and are eager to deliver an even better 2024 for our destination.

Thanks to the hard work of the team, and the support of the community,  the Burnaby Halloween Festival, grew from just 7 events in 2023 to a whopping 18 events for 2024. We’re still crunching the numbers, but we estimate well over 120,000 visits as a result of the month long festival. the Pat Quinn Classic has expanded to two sets of dates spanning both November and December and is set to bring in a record setting number of visiting teams this year.

I’d like to give a warm welcome to our newest board member, Scott de Savoye, representing the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown. We’re really excited to have a full roster of board members heading into 2024, and Scott’s extensive experience in hospitality and tourism will certainly help us get closer to our aggressive goals for 2024 and beyond.

We’ve just put the finishing touches on our new five-year strategic plan, and it’ll be available online soon. The 2024 strategic plan has just been approved and the team is getting ready to action several new initiatives for next year. You can see it here. These plans are our roadmaps for making Burnaby ever better for residents, visitors, and businesses alike. The scope of our responsibility to our community is captured best in our new Mission Statement :
