Executive Director Update

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the start of summer. Here at Tourism Burnaby, we’ve been experiencing some exciting growth and making strategic additions to our team. I’m thrilled to introduce Sparsh Bajaj, our new Business Information Analyst. Sparsh will be instrumental in helping us measure our successes and guide our strategies with insightful data.

We’re also welcoming Taylor Lee, who joins us as our new Sport and Office Administrator. Taylor’s expertise will support our sporting events and ensure our office operations run smoothly. Additionally, I’m delighted to announce that Anna Paul has been promoted to Festival Project Manager. Anna will be overseeing all things related to the Burnaby Halloween Festival, which promises to be the biggest and best yet. Stay tuned for announcements about some major new attractions!

Looking to the future, we’re planning ahead and have completed the first phase of research in cooperation with SFU and Translink. This study aims to forecast the number of visitors who will ride the Burnaby Mountain Gondola. We’ll be sharing the results with you soon.

We’re also collaborating with InterVistas to assess the total value of tourism to the city of Burnaby. This comprehensive report will cover direct and induced revenue as well as the tax revenue generated by our robust industry. Expect to see this report later this fall.

As always, thank you for your continued support and dedication. We’re excited about the future and look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
