For over 25 years, the Burnaby Summer Theatre Program has brought the enchantment of live performances to our community. This beloved tradition continues in 2024, promising an exciting lineup of free, all-ages, outdoor shows. These accessible performances aim to break down barriers, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, can experience the joy of live theatre.

WHERE & WHEN IS IT?

The Burnaby Summer Theatre Program takes place on multiple different dates. Running from July 24 until August 14, Burnaby has three main venues: Deer Lake Gallery (6584 Deer Lake Ave), Maywood House (4567 Imperial Street), and Wesburn Centre (4781 Parkwood Ave).

Located in Burnaby, BC, all these locations are easily accessible via buses. For those driving, parking in the vicinity is limited. Whether you choose to drive, carpool, or use public transit, getting there is straightforward – You can refer to Translink to customize your commute.

Meet the Artists of the Burnaby Summer Theatre Program 2024

Jasmine Provins
Jasmine Provins brings over a decade of experience in theatre arts to this year’s Burnaby Summer Theatre Program. A multimedia artist, Jasmine has written, acted in, and directed numerous stage and screen projects. Her extensive portfolio also includes illustration, painting, and music. Passionate about storytelling in all its forms, Jasmine is thrilled to contribute as Stage Manager and to collaborate with this year’s talented actors.

Babaloluwa (Lolu) Oyedele
Nigeria-born and South Africa-raised, Babaloluwa (Lolu) Oyedele is an interdisciplinary artist, performer, and writer with a BFA in Interdisciplinary Performance from UBC Okanagan. Recently, he was Coquitlam Heritage’s Artist in Residence, creating “The Porter’s Revival,” a performance about a black sleeping car porter’s ghost meeting a young artist. Lolu has worked with various Okanagan theatre companies and is a member of Pacific Theatre’s Working With writing cohort.

Emerson Cleary
Emerson Cleary is an unconventional storyteller and performer who thrives on defying expectations. Known for his theatrical flair and boisterous expression, Emerson aims to make audiences believe in his confident façade even when he’s improvising. Juggling numerous quirky side projects, he showcases the wonders of being unapologetically oneself through irony and transformation. Expect the unusual and unforgettable when experiencing Emerson’s performances.

Nathan Doll
Nathan Doll’s passion for art and acting began at age six and has since expanded to include film, costuming, makeup, and writing. Currently studying Hospitality at Douglas College, Nathan aspires to open a flexible studio space where he can produce his own shows. His diverse interests and dedication to the arts make him a dynamic addition to this year’s Burnaby Summer Theatre Program.
