The Story
The journey of Hippie Snacks traces back to 1996 when two friends embarked on the natural foods venture with the creation of Skeet & Ike’s, a nut butter brand. Beginning by crafting nut butter after their day jobs and selling them at local markets, the business quickly gained traction as demand surged.
With time, Skeet & Ike’s transitioned into an organic snack business, pioneering organic products like Organic Popcorn, Organic Granola, and Organic Trail Mixes in the mid-late 90s. However, in 2008, with a plethora of innovative product ideas that did not align with Skeet & Ike’s branding, the concept of Hippie Chips emerged. The Hippie Chips line evolved into what is now known as Hippie Snacks, paying homage to the 1960s movement of natural eating. This transformation marked a commitment to creating new, innovative products that challenged the norms of snacking while staying rooted in real, whole foods.

They discovered that packaging accounts for only 2% of their overall environmental footprint, with the majority stemming from ingredient sourcing and transportation.

They’ve explored various alternatives, including biodegradable, compostable, bio-based, recyclable plastics, and participation in initiatives like Loop and TerraCycle.
