Looking to add to your Burnaby experience- or just escape the heat for a bit? Burnaby is a hub for art, with many galleries and performance venues to take it all in.

Burnaby Art Gallery

With a variety of traveling exhibitions and events, the Burnaby Art Gallery offers something for all ages. The Gallery’s lively public programs are designed to enrich the visitor’s experience as it relates to each exhibition. Talks and workshops are often held in conjunction with some of the exhibitions – with artists and invited guests discussing issues surrounding the subject of the artworks.

Shadbolt Centre

The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is an award-winning arts facility located in Burnaby’s picturesque Deer Lake Park. The Shadbolt Centre also features a 10,000-seat natural amphitheatre and has been the location for filming a number of videos, movies and television programs. Check out their summer concert series lineup, for some COVID-19 friendly outdoor performances.

Deer Lake Gallery

Deer Lake Art Gallery showcases a diversity of art through temporary exhibits of many mediums.  The gallery is run by the Burnaby Arts Council and provides a space for local artists to present their work.

Michael J. Fox Theatre

Built as part of Burnaby South Secondary School, the Michael J. Fox Theatre is a professional, community-oriented theatre that offers a beautiful, practical and affordable venue for amateur and professional artists – enhancing the city’s already-rich cultural fabric. Originally opened in 1993, the theatre was officially re-named in November 1995 in honour of one of Burnaby’s most famous and loved sons, Michael J. Fox, in recognition of his achievements in the arts and commitment to the community. The theatre’s special design elements include specific considerations and features for those with special needs. And the theatre promotes the community ideals of accessibility and inclusion in the truest sense.
