Summer ‘24 was a busy season for Metro Vancouver’s ever-evolving culinary scene. Exciting new concepts and additions to established local favourites were popping up everywhere, and still going! Here are 7 new and upcoming restaurants to check out this Fall.
Dehl’s Gourmet
New West’s Dehls Gourmet specializes in authentic Ghanaian cuisine from chef and owner Delali Adiamah who brings her rich heritage and culinary expertise to traditional dishes like Jollof Rice, Honey Jerk Chicken, and Kelewele. From its humble beginnings as a catering service, Dehl’s now serves not only as a place to grab a delicious meal, but also to learn about a culture under-represented in Metro Vancouver’s dining scene.
906 Quayside Drive, New Westminster
Little Pisces
First-time restaurateurs Linda Dai and Jacky Tian are bringing another first to a Metro Vancouver dessert shop. A popular street-food in Japan, Taiyaki is a traditional fish-shaped pastry commonly filled with red bean paste, which you can get here along with more modern flavours like matcha strawberry or even pizza when you’re not feeling the sweet. But Little Pisces greatest trick comes with the addition of soft serve ice cream to the menu. Combining the two is a match made in heaven.
202b 4501 North Rd, Burnaby
House of Dawn (coming soon)
Coming this fall to Richmond, House of Dawn is an upscale Asian-fusion restaurant—and the city’s first cocktail lounge—from chef Danny Deng of Neue Catering, already one of Vancouver’s premier global fusion caterers. Inspiration for the space comes from Shanghai’s “golden era,” so expect lots of colour and intricate detail to match an adventurous menu.
130-8171 Ackroyd Rd, Richmond
Steamworks Brewing Co. (coming soon)
Iconic downtown Vancouver brewery and restaurant Steamworks is set to open their new location in Central Lonsdale in North Vancouver. The room is said to seat 280 patrons, with half of those seats being outside on an expansive 1,900 sq ft patio.
126 E 21st Street, North Vancouver
Bok Bok Chicken X Monga Fried Chicken
For those times when you crave fried chicken but just can’t decide if you want the Korean or Taiwanese version, a new collaboration in Surrey has got you covered. Delicious breaded chicken with the crispy and sweet Korean take, and the fragrant, herbaceous seasoning of Tawainese under one roof! You know what, just get both.
10330 152nd Street Unit 85, Surrey
Veroni & Co
One of Burnaby’s finest artisan coffee houses is coming to Coquitlam. Veroni & Co. believe in “keeping it simple and making it good” when it comes to their roasted-in-house espresso, and handcrafted “elevated” coffee creations.
101-1135 Pipeline Road, Coquitlam
Good Thief
Vancouver’s Anh and Chi has a new little brother! Good Thief opened this summer in Mount Pleasant and is introducing diners to nhậu, a Vietnamese tradition of gathering to eat, drink and generally be merry through global experiments both on the plate and in your cocktail class.
3336 Main Street, Vancouver
There are many ways to get to each of these spots in Metro Vancouver by transit. Visit TransLink’s Trip Planner to find your way.
