Event Details
“Matsuri” is the Japanese term for festival, and since 2013, Nikkei Matsuri has been a cornerstone event for the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (NNMCC). This vibrant 3-day festival is integral in supporting the museum’s cultural, educational, and museum initiatives. Nikkei Matsuri celebrates Japanese arts and culture with a rich array of offerings including food, music, entertainment, and traditional Japanese-style kids’ games. Before the pandemic, the festival attracted over 14,000 attendees, showcasing its widespread appeal. The event reflects NNMCC’s mission to honor, preserve, and share Japanese culture and Japanese Canadian history and heritage. The success of Nikkei Matsuri relies on the dedicated efforts of staff, volunteers, and the generous support of corporate sponsors and donors, enabling us to deliver a memorable cultural experience for all ages year after year.
