As part of the Culture Days and Celebrate 120 activities, celebrate Burnaby's transportation heritage with a weekend of transportation-related fun. Join us as we celebrate 100 years of the Interurban 1223.
Going Electric - Saturday
Free lectures about electric railways in the Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley. Expert speakers will provide fascinating looks into the history of electric railway transportation, as well as the possibilities of reviving the system for future use. Chinese Moon Festival - Sunday
Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with a visit to the Chinese Herbalist Shop, make a lantern craft to take home and enjoy traditional moon cakes. Fee includes carousel ride. Sunday, Sep 30 9:30-11:00am $15.00 (members $13.50) code 285344
Al Bowen - Antique Show and Tell - Sunday
Bring your two most intriguing objects, and Al Bowen, a well-known local, independent antiques appraiser, will reveal the story behind your antique treasures. Free, but pre-registration is required. Sunday, Sep 30 11:30am-3:30pm
Museum Activities
In addition to the above features, the Museum's exhibits will be open, including the Interurban 1223 tram barn, and activities, entertainment, and demonstrations will take place throughout the 10-acre site.
Vintage and modern-day riding toys are available for all ages, transportation-related crafts for kids, and vintage buses from the Transit Museum Society. Don't miss the TraiNgang's model railway display, and bring your bike to participate in BEST's Bicycle Valet Service.
